Sofia Bergman

Biography

When I paint, I’m all alone with my canvasses and my oilpaints, but when I’m make glass down in Småland on SKRUFS Glassfactory, I’m part of a group.

Two different disciplines, confidence and trust, cross- feeding.

My paintings are inspired by the shapes and colours in nature surrounding me.

I want to catch the freshness of the whites in a newly sprung leaf of a magnolia.

I want to describe the aspects of red in a geranium.

I want to catch the drift of the hue in a rosehip, from red to almost black when pinched by the winter frost.

I want to put the pride of reeds in the wind on parade.

For many years I worked in advertising, in Umeå,   Uppsala and Gothenburg.

I studied Art history at Uppsala University, filmmaking at SVT, Art-directing in Stockholm and painting at Folkuniversitetet and Gerleborgsskolan.
