AMALIA GIL-MERINO

Through the formed heart hand a Sudan child smiles us.

It’s the conscience / our conscience as an eyes banded girl who made the heart with her enormous hands. 

Amalia Gil-Merino’s work speak to our specific and special moment in history, and are thus at one perceptively poetic and enigmatic.

“My art allows me the power to create without judging, erasing the limits of real versus surreal, dissolving bodies through cloudy backgrounds”.

The viewer confront the real issues with their own sense of the unexpected, the undiscovered. 

Born in Burgos (Spain), where she assisted at the painter’s atelier Ignacio del Rio, studied in Paris and at the University of Berlin.

She has exhibited in Spain, Paris and Berlin.

Gil-Merino’s work is in 2011 in London (Brick Lane Gallery), New York (Agora Gallery) and at the Art Fair Shanghai.
